The first illusion does work I copied an cut and pasted as says and it's true.

It's not your eyes seeing the wrong colour anyway - it's the way your brain processes it. So it's more I than eye.

Yeah, but surely no level of intelligence would allow you to see the colours as being the same in that picture?
I cant imagine someone exists that is able to do that, maybe the same sort of freak of nature that can draw a perfect circle freehand

i saw this a long time ago. but it is true, its weird, very weird, they are genuinly the same color, see for yourself..

because it's not actually darker in the middle, it's the outer that's lighter
very well put together image actually, wouldn't have taken much to completely ruin the effect
btw, the two circles one doesn't work for me.. they both appear the same size
