Is Jonatron telling us to get a room?

Discord or whatnot sounds like a good idea at some point.

Oh heck, I'm not sure I can face losing the forums just yet. Is that looming? I'm sure we can start a discord if that's where things have to go. Shame though, I don't really want another app on my phone. And we'll loose all the old thread history as well as the public access... . I'm not sure a public discord is a sensible thing having seen the craazy in a few of them. Plus no google search ARGHGHGH. We'll never find things again.

If we do have to leave someone clone all the smilies and icons, grab the Hexus logos and peterb's bansaw + spacey's avatar. They shall not be forgotten.

Well presumably admin's will know when the certificate, licence on the forum software, domain hosting etc will all end, so surely they would let us all know when the end is nigh?

Theres a few quiet forums that I'm admin on that would be a nice place to shoot the breeze and keep in touch.

There's an idea of converting to a static site. In which case, the public forum history will still be available and googleable, but there'll be no login or anything new.

how will that comply with right to forget etc? Doesn't there have to be a mechanism for user deletion?

Out of interest, how many 'active' users are there on here now?

Up for getting a backup place arranged, although I don't really use any other forums/discord etc so not sure where.

discord is ok, provided it's not open to all and properly moderated. It's different to forum structure though. Works better as a live chat style place. Reddit is more geared to non-live, but even then the cascading comments thing is utterly frustrating and moderation stuff is weird on there. The reddits i tried were chaotic and unfriendly.

Good point. We might have to just nuke the forum completely. I see some people, including in this thread, have what looks like a real name as their username, which makes it more tricky to hang onto forum posts.

It would be nice if you could keep some of the user reviews and guides up,and the big photo thread too.

Well if someone suggests a replacement, I'll happily tag along.

I presume it won't be a Hexus Only Fans site? Phwoar, look at the RGB on that...

What's the reason for this? Funds, time, both?

Forum currently says 7 members and 489 guests online. Wonder how many of us would chip in with a Patreon if it was funds. Seven (no matter how magnificent) isn't many to spread costs over I guess.

There's zero employees, so zero time. Zero money because the company no longer exists. But there is a personal liability for someone due to various data laws.

It seems DR now has a senior position at Corsair(congrats!). I think the guy who founded JonnyGuru also left for Corsair, and eventually the person who tried to run it for years also didn't have the time. It's a shame as a lot of those reviews are now permanently lost to the sands of time.

    Edit!!

BOXFX was also bought up by Corsair.
