I don't use OCUK that often, but that's disappointing to hear. I hope it's not nearing Toms Hardware levels of absolute chaos!

There are a few threads that things stay civil, but there just seems to be a lot of posts where, if you said things down the pub you'd get put on your arse, and you never know if people are actually that thick/racist/sexist etc or if they're just trolling..

It's a very different vibe to here (pre closure) I think the amount of users and posts makes that inevitable.
I have quite a few users set to ignore on there, dropping into the latest discussion on Olympic boxers or politics usually gives me a couple more to add to the list, with that done and sticking to specific forums helps.

I've seen people mention asking to be bannd from 'Speakers Corner' which means you do't see the threads in your list, thats a workable if strange option.

The current mental health thread on there is (IMO) important and people seem to be respectful of that one.

I don't check every sub tbh, I have a poke through some threads but only go on there a couple of times a day and then only check the new posts on the threads I'm part of..

Does anyone else struggle to use Reddit?

It doesn't matter how many years pass or any changes they make there is just something about reddit that brings me out in visual dyslexia that i find it almost impossible to follow a conversation on there.

I don't really try to engage with any 'community' so my use is the odd post usually to answer a question, it's not like I really have any interest in the multiple millions of users there.
I'm not a fan of the layout though, used to use a 3rd party app to browse which let me hide any sub I didn't like and help with formatting but since they stopped those I've easily hit the 1,000 (?) sub hide limit and my feed is 75% junk

Same here, i use it mostly for tech support.

The UK chat sub-reddits are odd as they are like OAP homes with people repeatedly talking about the past rather than what's happening in 2024.
