Yeah they are nice guitars, prefer the the vai sigs myself, not the ones that look like liberachi's handbag though The B.C Rich is also known as the buglar destroyer, bought it because I thought it'd look good on stage, just a shame I can't find a case that'll fit to get it there lol
Cheap, but would do for a beginner: www.piedog.com
hmm see i dont fully agree with the idea of buying a cheap guitar for a beginner.
If you get a cheap guitar to start with, its not going to play anywhere near as nice as a mid range one (let alone an expensive one) and if it doesnt sound good, then your not going to want to carry on playing. Much better to spend a bit more, get a nice guitar thats going to sound great, feel great and last you a while - not one thats going to put you off. For example, ignoring the fact that i am not a fan of the SG shape, my housemate has a vintage SG copy, bought for £119. If that had been my first guitar I would have given up in weeks, it was horrible to play compared to my ibanez - even compared to some of the 'better' squires. Its worth spending that little bit more to get a reasonable guitar that your going to enjoy learning with rather than a cheap-and-nasty one that will frustrate you
Tanglewood's aren't bad guitars actually, I had one for a while as a project, for me its amps that make more of a decent, a standard squire can sound nice through a JCM2000 but a custom strat will still sound terrible through a pocket amp.
