    20,000 / 186 = £107.53
    107.53 * 1.62 = 174.20 Euros

    Code:
    yen    -->  sterling   -->  Euros

    20,000 -->  20,000/186 -->  (20,000/186) x 1.62
    20,000/186 = £107.53

    107.53 * 1.62 = 174.2 euros

    Done

    question 2......

    With no other information, the following two-step method is the only one we can be reasonably certain of:

    Start with 20,000 Yen.
    The rate you give says number of £=number of yen / 186
    Let us assume this is the rate for buying pounds with Yen.
    No. £ =20,000/186=107.52...
    Let us assume you can only buy whole £s
    You buy £107.

    The rate you give says number of Euros=number of £ * 1.62
    Let us assume this is the rate for buying Euros with £.
    No. Euros =107*1.62=173.34
    Let us assume you can only buy whole Euros
    You buy 173 Euros.
