    Flies, Wasps and Other ********

Now that summer is here, do any of you know any good ways of either killing Wasps + Flies out or killing them with little effort?

I have seen those electric wasp killers on Ebay but they look a bit cheap (Basically a fly swatter with high voltage metal across it so you just need to touch it and off it burns..)

Another alternative is a lantern with UV that wasps fly into and die, I wasn't sure if they would actually want to fly into it.

So do any of you have any good ways of killing and keep these ******* out of your home.

I like to see wasps getting massacred.....

use the UV tube works very well in my folks place in France! depending on the size of creature it catches, the more noise it makes! only one minor prob, I don't know if wasps will be attracted to it... erm, second prob is it catches moths

I don't recommend you do what my dad used to do though, which was use his thumb. (wasps sting faces downwards)

tried wasp spray? the fly version is amazing, they literally fall out of the air

I don't really relish the idea of my dog dying with the spray, I usually use half the can on one wasp.

I like things which I don't need to be there to kill them, I'd just like to go out every few hours and watch them all die.

I used a bottle of vimto once which worked well but it isn't working at the moment (a few wasps are out already!!)

Thanks for that, I will look into it but I think it would end up to be quite expensive if I leave it on all day.

Another thing is, killing wasps is good, you should want to massacre as many as you can.

actually it isn't as when you kill a wasp it emitts a pheromone that attracts other wasps, it also primes them for attack so really if you kill one you set yourself up for trouble...

I think that is why the drowning in vimto works well as they all just pile in.

Sadly, it isn't working this year yet, perhaps I need to wait until more are out.

I was trying to kil them now as I was guessing they won't be able to build their nest if I kill them now, and so they can't have more young resulting in me getting stung less?

Have you heard of those flamethrower type things that kill midges, I'm guessing it would work on wasps too.

Where do you get those from!? Sound like a handy weapon to have around the place.

I'll report back after I've killed a dozen or so flies...

newpaper/magazine with a fast swinging motion never fails me.

want to get a zapper thing though. I have bigger problems with moths than i do with flies. I dont like flies, but i CANT STAND moths they need to all die.
