As for Northumbria i studied there from 1999 to 2003 then in august 2003 I started work in Newcastle Uni. Northumbria is a good uni, I enjoyed my time there. Out of interest Javalord do you get Robin Stannaway for anything, also known as the ginger teapot ninja due to the way he stands in the lecture like a teapot

Is Dan Hodgson and Chris Rook still there? You may not get them as they are the games programming section of the Informatics school. Is Shiela Keogh still there to? They were the best lecturers by far, the lattter three for their teaching and support, as for Robin, he was for comical value Dr Moon aqlso known as Alan Moon? He does the 3D graphics with VRML section, or he did when I was there, you're right he can go on for hours, many hours we wasted in tutorial rooms just talking about grraphics etc, he was a godsend for my Dissertation to along with Dna and Chris
Stannaway's still here, did lots of my SQL seminars, and despite looking a little fragile is very on the ball.

Dan Hodgson is still here, although not met him, he's produced some of the material I use. Dr Moon's still here, as passionate as ever Gotta love him really.

Elearning at Newcastle for Computer Science students is virtually dead. I've had a look whilst I was around a friends, he wasnt too pleased to see mine full of stuff. Most the time they couldnt even log in.

I did a computer science degree, and I'm not finding it that useful, in regards to what I've learnt. I know a little about a lot, so feeling like a jack of all trades, master of none. We did around 12 week modules in different areas, networks, HCI, C++, java, DBMS - not enought to be proficient, just basics in most.

Do you regret doing it then? Would you have chosen a more specialised degree if you had the choice again?

I do and I would - all I feel I am capable of is Technical Support, and that's only because I've been breaking computers since I was a kid and from my experience during placement year. Didn't do enough html/php/asp to be a web coder, or c++/java to be a programmer, just a little SQL so not much hope of being a DB admin. All it is, is a "computer related degree" for the essential criteria in a job application

It's just hard to figure out what direction you want to go at A-level time - I could always go back to being a student or do a masters or something, or just get a book and teach myself. But right now, I want to open up a bar!
