Funnily enough, I heard that for the first time yesterday. The missus says that it reacts with their stomach acids (like with vinegar) and the build up of gas causes them to explode.

Which was pleasant.

The only way it would work is if pigeons were incapable of burping. I use bicarb to treat my indigestion and I haven't exploded yet.

Yeah, as far as I know it's true; They are incapable of passing wind (Burping or farting), and so the gas builds up.

I've had one person tell me they knew someone that did it at school and all that happened was a dead bird falling down after it flew off as it's just the internals that popped, others have said the whole thing busts open.

Guess it's something i'll have to try.
