    Apple introduces Mac mini. New member of Mac family Slot-load Combo optical drive. Play DVDs, burn CDs. Queit. Tiny, FireWire, ethernet, USB 2.o, both DVI/VGA output. Very tine. Height is half the size of an iPod mini. BYODKM. Bring Your Own Display, Keyboard, Mouse. Firs tone is $499: 1.25GHz 256MB/40GB More memory and larger hard drive for $599. Will ship on January 22. Ships in a box smaller than the regular iPod box.

    I'm ordering one as soon as I can.

    I'm not so disappointed. I reckon this could be the killer box for apple, it's a great treat for potential switchers and iPod lovers. This could well be my first Apple purchase - a SFF Unix box, Mac OS X... I'll definately get the bluetooth upgrade and 512Mb in there, top that with a KVM and it looks ready to rock.

    I also imagine that some clever modder will build it into a PC case too as some kind of freaky multiplatform box (hook up a DVD RW drive to it via usb2 and the job's half done).

    I'll always love PC's more, but I'd love to just play with one of these.
