I want to get away, I wanna... erm, drive away

    OK,

Fishchild is stopping at his grandparents on saturday, so I was thinking of taking Mrs Fishcake away for saturday night. The hotel I had in mind is all booked up, so I'm asking if anybody has any personal recommendations. Don't want to drive too far - I live in the manchester area, but anywhere in north englan, the midlands or north wales is what i'm looking for. Somewhere quiet / rural.

    I am at your mercy

Last Drop Village in Bolton is fantastic, if a little pricey.

I would recommend the Lake District for the weekend.

Its always nice up there this time of year although it may be difficult to find hotel/b&B at such short notice however there are quite a few in keswick and kendle

    1) Go to "maps.google.co.uk"
    2) Enter "Bolton"
    3) Observe the number of the A road running North South

    Nuff said

(my wife went to school near bolton and trust me when I say there are worse places nearby)

One of my favourire places is Ellerton Abbey in the Yorkshire Dales (link)
They have B&B at reasonable prices in one of my favourite parts of the country I've only been self catering there, but I would imagine the B&B is equally good

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

GET A TENT! Then, go to leeds, jump on the carlisle train via settle, and get off at a random stop (most of them are in the middle of nowhere) then set up camp and bobs yer mother's brother!

Thats a shame... especially as its Friday now, you'd think they'd rather have a booking for only one night than none at all.
Maybe try again later... or pay for two nights, then you can get there first thing Saturday rather than waiting until the afternoon!

Tis a lovely place... with fab walks and an ace little pub in Grinton a mile or so down the road...

...ahhh... wish I was going there now!!

Depends on what you are looking for really, but there must be other B&B's in the same area (if you've not been there before, it really is worth a visit... but don't tell anyone!!)
Maybe try this (link) I've not been, but I love Arkengarthdale, so I'm sure it will be beautiful
