    Turbo GCSE's?

    Hi,

Is anyone aware of a way of doing a GCSE qualification really quickly? I was just never happy with my C in Maths and I figure I could really get an A or A* with a week of study. Is there any way to do a GCSE really quickly?

I know I was lazy at school, but I'm a lot more academically astute these days and I'd just like to tie up the loose ends.

i think the dates may be set at certain times of year determined by the times they are marked. that said I have no real clue but thats my most logical opinion

Go to your local school and ask to be entered to the exams you would like to re-sit. You will have to pay for them but going to school/lessons is not compulsary in order to sit an exam. There is nothing stopping you from starting revision a week before the exam. The best thing to do is to buy a revision guide relating to the exam board you are going to use and go through that perhaps a page a day.

I'm assuming its just 2 or 3 bits of menial coursework and an exam (like when I did it before).

There's no reason why they should set it at certain points in the year though, in my opinion.

Hehe, I'd rather not ask my local school - I'm 23 and do the odd bit of consulting for them! I'm checking colleges though, it's around £155 per exam - I'm just seeing if attendance is mandatory.

They are set at certain points in the year in order for marking to go smoothly. Everything is done in batches so there is a summer exam time and a winter exam time if i remember correctly. All papers can be done in either summer or winter, or a mixture. Best thing is to ask at a local school - they are the experts!

They're also only done at certain times so they don't have to keep writing the darn things!

As far as I know any school is compelled to take external candidates, so just find a local school that you don't have any connection with. I'd advise you to get hold of the syllabus so you know what you should be learning. There's nothing you can do about the timing though I'm afraid- they're fixed across the whole exam board, simply because if they weren't loads of people would cheat.

My wife is trying to do her maths GCSE because she needs a C to get on a teacher training course. That's going to be a struggle.

It'll be your local college you need to go to
Attendance is not necessary to enter for one. Most places wont change you for the teaching if you let them know in advance, and just for the actual exam itself.
