I'd check first with whoever has authorised the scheme ( is it council run? ), you may be contravening laws even with permission slips, i run out of school clubs and are governed by ofsted, we have an x-box and are not allowed games over the age rating limit regardless of parental permission, kids always bring halo, GTA games to the setting (11 yr olds ) and we have to say no sorry which is a shame because my kids play these games as games for their own age range isn't enough of a challenge ( though my 9 yr old has completed halo, and halo 2 numerous times and is currently kicking ass on his x-box live )Originally Posted by RoGuE|SaBeR
I'd check to make sure you don't need an entertainments too, because technically if your showing games- videos/DVd's even playing music in public or a large group your meant to have one

Black and white sounds good to me...

Seriously, black and white does sound good, especially the whole ethical side of it. Although you may find kids give up on that and just torch the villagers...
But that's fun too!
What about conversions of games? I'm sure they don't have age ratings
Besides... if they aren't able to play "violent" games, then they may give more time into learning B&W - and that does make it more fun to play....
But also, this is being run by a church maybe you could tune a bit of religion into it (Like the one with the false idol)

Uplink, now there's a cracker of a game.
Star Wars BattleFront? I don't know the ratings but would expect it to be one of the lowest rated FPS - it is Star Wars after all.

Liquid Wars and Soldat are both fun, free, and lan-friendly
All the games mentioned are fantastic, but are they too long? imagine how frustrating it would feel if you were just getting into a game then had to come off
What about driving games???? Project Gotham Racing? Need For Speed Underground? you could make it fun by having teams challenging each other, or individual tournaments??? i bet they'd love it.
There's also games like Fifa/ Tony Hawks??? they are fun to have teams with too
I like using teams for games in my setting because it builds their confidence and it's not so deflating when you lose if your in a team
If you want an FPS, try Jedi Knight 2 - the rating is only 11+. I'm not sure about Jedi Academy since I don't have a copy, but I would imagine a similar rating. In case you haven't played it before, you have a lightsaber and chop other people up with it. It is as fun as it sounds (assuming that sounded fun... if it didn't, it's more fun that it sounds!)
