You can do what you like, Stewart! After all, you have modlike powers over the rest of us *grin*.

Doesn't bother me which way this thread goes, being as I won't be online for three whole weeks. Not sure what bothers me more *muses*.... an operation? Or not keeping up with my various forums? Internet addiction, much??

I walk now. It'd take me 5 minutes by car, and anywhere bewtween 30-45 minutes to walk depending on how fast I go. It would be easier to get in by car BUT it's such a short journey (just over 2 miles) that the Mini is horribly inefficient and eats fuel like nobodies business..... I only drive in on Wednesdays cos I have to go out to St John's to shoot straight after work.

If I had a job I'd be willing to commute 30mins or less by car.

When I start my job next week I shall be driving for 40 minutes (unless it's rush hour then it could be an hour, lol)

I used to commute a fair distance and once took me from 5pm->8pm to get home (though that wasn't the distance; more the rubbish public transport and traffic).

Now takes me about 15-20mins; bus ride + a short walk
Living so close to the centre makes life much easier, that & not going into work until about half nine, and leaving at about half five to miss some rush hour traffic
We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?

Currently 1hour 15 mins each way roughly.
Moving to a place 0.9 miles from the office
Worst was when I worked in London. 2 hours each way for 10 months.
I have nothing god whatsoever to say about our publiuc transport system
Asn even less good things to say about greedy idiot London underground drivers.

16 miles each way, not too long by car, depends if I take the country route or bomb down the A12.

Used to be 10 mins walk, about 50mins on the tube, Now its on my bike and about 40 mins blat there, and an hours slog back (The hill up from Archway to Highgate on the A1 ), but because I have to get changed and apply shower-in-a-can It still takes me an hour from my front door to my desk.

The best bit is that even if I got my bike nicked, I could buy a new one each month with the money I save by not buying travelcard
The worst bit was getting a puncture on Euston Road in the pouring rain
They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them.

12 minute drive, each way, helps i set off about quarter to 8 in the morning and leave the office at 4:30

And its 12 minutes on the dot, I know this as I have driven the same route to work for the last 4 years
