    Robin Cook

There's been another thread, but since it couldn't even spell his name properly, I thought I'd start a decent one.

Robin Cook has died. I was never a huge fan but I had to respect him after his resignation from the cabinet in 2003. He was clearly a brave and principled man, and I do believe the country is the poorer for his death.

Top bloke for standing up for what he believed in, one of the few politicians i thought was half-decent.

I don't think my parents should go away. Every time they do, someone famous dies.

Whilst I was never a fan he did actually do a little bit more than just resign over Iraq. I saw David Blunkett praise him for his actions over Sierra Leone and have to agree that a lot of peoples lives were saved by quick actions

In an age where principles and politics seem to grow ever further apart, Cook was perhaps one of the very few who made any sort of effort to combine them. He didn't always succeed, and I didn't agree with everything he ever said/did, but still, a great loss.
