    Thanks Zak!

I'm back home on Monday, and I'll write another post with as much information as possible on the different licences and practicalities of learning to fly in the US, hopefully this has encoraged those who have been dreaming to start researching.

I know I said earlier in this thread that I wasn't going to try to do this for a living, but I've changed my mind! I'm not sure where I'm going to get the money from, but it's gonna have to be done!

I'm bumping this thread for a few reasons. Firstly to apologise for not writing the bit with more information on the practicalites of flying in the US. I was pretty wiped out after I got back. I'll still do this if there's interest.

Secondly, because one of my reasons for writing this was to inspire others. There were a few people who back at the beginning made comments: 'I'm looking into doing this' 'I had a few lessons.', 'I've always wanted to...', etc. I want to know if I succeeded i this. After readng this post, or in general, have any of you looked into this further? Made plans? Booked a trial lesson?

Lastly, I am going to go back for commercial training early next year, possibly on a two year internship. I'm thinking of starting a blog site for the diary-style entries (this is slightly off-topic for hexus, although I'd make sure the milestones are mentioned on here somewhere), and I'd like to know if there is much interest in the day-to-day stuff. Enough interest that people would sign up to and read a blog about it.

I already started saving for my lesssons starting next year at Kemble Flight School (at kemble. Gonna be expensive at £5900 odd in a cessna 152 but im thinking of spending more on getting it in a Cherokee. Hoping to go to OAT but thats a long way out at the moment.

How many hours have you managed to fly in the UK since obtaining your PPL?

I would reccomend spending more for the Piper. I flew around in a 150 (similar but older than a 152) and the climb performance was truely dire. I spent about £4500 in total on my training in a Cessna 172 (bigger than a 152), including all my accomodation, flight over there and the extra flying I did, so a big saving over flying in this country.

I haven't flown since I came back, mainly because I'm working all the overtime I can get to pay for next years course! Every hour I fly here is three over there!

    Re: Learning to Fly

Mega bump, thread resurrection etc etc, but I came across this thread while looking for something else!

But as the OP (TeePee) is still a regular posting member here, I hope he won't mind me posting this as it was the start of fulfilling a dream.

    Re: Learning to Fly

I've done some flying lessons in the last year or so (in C150/C152s) at North Weald. However, I've put it on hold, because it's hard for me to do enough flying to make progress. 1 hour a week at best just wasn't cutting it. I think I'll be copying TeePee and TheAnimus (see) next year, with a flying holiday in the USA. Watch out for that!
