Dont buy Custom PC very often because all the stuff i'm interested in i can browse on the shelves.

Anybody noticed that some of the stuff reviewed doesn't seem to be available in a wide numer of internet retailers.

I read zone, Shopper & Micro Mart on a regular basis. Used to have a sub for Custom PC, PC Plus & PC pro, but I gave them up after complaints from the wife. However the best tech read by far is CPU magazine from the states. Copies come a month late, but it's quality.

I have given up with all of these PC mags. The two inches that they can give to any review just can't compete with a good site. They always come out later too so its just like reading a summary of the online review you read last week!

Custom PC is normally a good read. GigaHz is also ok, but it only comes out once every 2 months!

It's not bad. The reviews can be stupid sometimes, but for the most part, it's quite good.

But I read PCZ, PCPro, Micro Mart, and CPC, and I don't think any of them are that brilliant.

I buy both PC Format and Custom PC every month. I think PC Format is the best PC mag out. It is very good to read. It covers everything and i find there reviews excellent. It is well worth the money.

I like reading custom pc too but i do not find that it is on the same power as PC Format. Hense the price difference.

Seriously, I only really read PCZone and PCPro - otherwise, I read everything on the net.
I read PC Pro as well and believe it's one of the better magazines.

Do you find some of the kit reviewed in PC Pro finds it's way into Custom PC and vice versa?

Yep that's why I cancelled my subscription to Custom PC and stuck with PC Pro cause the duplicate reviews were bugging me. Can't say I was much of a fan of Custom PC. It just seemed to be a mag dedicated to reviewing uber expensive PCs.

It's not too bad Custom PC

I've known Joshua long before Custom PC days - I used to play CS 1.6 with him all the time and vice-versa.

I've also been in a fair few adverts in there and my Isotope systems been in for review as well

Ah i see someone has mentioned Ghz magazine. I gave that a skim in WHSmiths; not at all as readble or interesting as CPC.

Computer hardware websites may be more up to date and what have you, but its much nicer to read a magazine, its all layed out and put together for you and is easier to read.

It does not matter how much I read the internet tech sites and forums, i always learn new stuff from magazines. I also like to read articles from professional journalists, some of the writing on some of the tech sites is very amature. I like to be entertained as well as infomed. In not a robot, thats another reason i like mags. And saying the information is on the net first is true 80% of the time, but often mags get very good exclusives sometimes. Some of the mags seem to have very good contacts in the industry.

I've got three of their magazines, i found them VERY boring... it was more like reading a book than a magazine somehow. Don't get me wrong, in this world people enjoy books, but it was just too formal, with no humour or special interesting things that would make me buy it over any other.

Me <3 Custom PC and PC Format

BTW, I got a new custom PC in the post today... seems ok, but no cheesy scan dudes at the back
