So.. err.. what should I do? *56k nein*

Ok a short while ago, my beloved first and only laptop had an accident. Not pooped it's pants sort of accident, but something that would have put it in a wheelchair...

*pics taken with my 0.6mp phone (lol), so reasonable quality*

OH MY GOD No need to panic, I found a perfectly working *Part* of the screen

What should I do? Its the 'LCD unit - TFT10.4-inch 05K9651' that is damaged, as far as I can see there is no damage on the casing, frame, etc. I've opened it all, took the whole LCD unit off, so its like a keyboard computer, and hooked it up to the D-SUB port on my Dell 2005FPW, so I can press a button to switch between computers. It was only an IBM ThinkPad 240x but it was a good webbrowser, downloader, infared for my phone, music, TV/movies in bed, teamspeak server hosting, as well as all my work..... well techically speaking it still works, but I cant do anything on the LCD as you can tell.

SO BASICALLY that all happened a short while ago... but now my harddrive died for absolutely no reason. Good thing is, is that the laptops now completely silent lol - but i took the harddrive out and it rattles.

Bought 2nd hand laptop off mate: £60
    New 802.11g PCMCIA card: £25
    New USB-to-IDE Converter: £18

    Ebay 20gb- harddrive: £20 ?
    Ebay LCD screen: £60-80

I might aswell have bought a new supercheap Celeron laptop.

ULTIMATELY the question is keep it, or dump it

Never dump anything that's only partly broken. Either use it as a nice silent fileserver for downloading etc, or fleabay, you'll probably get £30-40 at least (It's a sellers market).

If ya do want to dump it, send me a PM, I'd love it and will gladly fork out for postage, as would a few other peeps on here I'm sure.
They told me I was gullible ... and I believed them.

fleabay it as spares and repairs.

or you could do a fraud, and send it to someone on ebay working, and then when they complain take it out on th epostal insurance (make it compulsory)

Well its got like 70% working parts (just no hdd, and no LCD) so eventhough I posted it as an option, I would really like to save this...

And to Matt D, if you do have a spare LCD for this, I will infinately love you!

Sorry, fell asleep infront of tele (rare for me, don't normally watch tele).

After being caught (shall we say 'together') on a few occasions, the ginger and the guy in the year below went back to just being friends.

Well there's the dorm that sleep naked each night together - I won't tell you about them

The uber spotty person who thinks he's really 'ARD, he wanders around the dorm naked shaking his balls at people

The guy who tried to blow himself on the toilet, (photographic proof avaoilable on request - tbh I don't think I have it anymore, we printed off hundreds and circulated it around the school). He claimed he fell asleep on the toilet??????????

The bloke who after being told 'you have **** all over your arse' after lifting up his legs naked and then being told 'you are actually meant to wipe your arse' to which he honestly replied 'don't need to if it's quick. anyway I have a shower everyother day'

And that's what happens in school house, tonbridge school. Seriously there are hundreds of fowler things, I could keep a daily podcast of the stuff, I feel a boarding school big brother coming on.

And those are just my year, in my house of 12 people! Dorms of 4. Well, all-in-one rooms to ourselves now :d

What's the date got to do with anything?

No more, this is probably the longest post I'm ever going to write and I've got bored.
