    Surprised at prices

Hi all, ive just returned from a great 4 day break from cologne with my gf.

Whilst i was over there i decided to have a look at the prices for various components and i was quite surprised that they pay a fair bit more than we do for them. Amittedly i was only able to check out the prices in media markt and saturn and 1 independent pc shop but most prices seemed to be 15% higher than over here.

but i guess its swings and roundabout cuz other stuff was cheaper like rw-discs and perphierals.

i just wanted to know what other ppl's experiences have been

but i will deffo be going back as its a great place for a break

    cheers

Just got back from Cologne myself actually Media Markt and Saturn are great, but I thought it was almost pounds for euros from what I saw? Basic 2.4Ghz Celeron laptop (Medion) was €429 which I thought was a total bargain.

Guilty of dragging my g/f round there too, and even taking a photo infront of the Halo guy for someone we know (a halo fan!).

As I seem to be one of a handful of people on Hexus who actually like Halo, this is the bit where I critiscize your lack of knowledge of the Halo game. The figure you refer to could be called:

    Master Chief
    A Spartan
    Spartan 117
    John

And many other suitable names. Halo Guy is not one of them.

In reference to "get it on," a Spartan's biological and mechanical alterations would affect this "it" dramatically. The likelyhood would be that a Spartan would find "it" impossible due to strength which is too great.

I could of used a correct term for model seen in picture but I'd rather leave it simple for none Halo loving readers. Yes I rather like the game aswell but lets face it, Old master cheif getting it on would make a hell of a change to blasting his way throughh the flood. Brings a whole new meaning to "Halo Jump"

What i have found in France is, that whole PC systems are cheaper, but they will obviously use the run-of-the mill components.

But individual PC components are more expensive

    Taxation is a funny buisness.

Head on over to "3rd world contintal europe" and look at the prices of components, most things are cheaper. But theres a lot more pirate / stolen stuff doing the rounds.

However, cologne is a quant place, and not renound for its low taxation. But in the before broadband days they would of had cheaper ISDN.
