    "killer shark live" channel 5...

...I cannot stand programs like this. its just so ignorant of some grubby litle twerp sitting up in a pokey office in some office block clearly in charge of things he really shouldn't be. I cannot strees how wrong it is to put out the message that sharks are out and out killers, hell bent on eating people.
to me they are some of the most majestic creatures on the planet. and I'm fully supportive of their protection and abhor, yes utterly detest, the japanese for raping the seas day after day for merely their fins...they just chuck the fin-less bodies back over the side of the boat. its sick.
so programs glorifying the 'killer' image I really can't bare, it only drums up even more ungrounded fear for a greatly misunderstood animal that should be respected - I don't mean just the great white (the 'jaws' one that usually pops into people's heads), I mean all shark kinds. I've swum with different types and they didn't bother us, in fact they were scared of us and high-tailed it out of there!
so, I didn't put this in the TV section cause its more for discussion about people's feelings towards these creatures. I for one would like to learn more about them and try to explain to people they're not that bad after all...

I'd like to thank channel 5 for opening my eyes to the danger sharks pose to me and my family, as such i've taken the precortion of ordering £300's worth of Shark-b-gone TM. I'm also buying a gun, and never going swimming without a 2 foot machette

You're more likely to be killed by a coconut falling on your head than a Shark. Fact. And how many films/ documentaries have you seen about the dangers of coconuts?

ITV done a thing the other week on Sharks (Might have actually been ITV 2, cant remember but it was called Shark night). It had a celebrity cage thing where they baited the water with blood to attrack the sharks to the cage, really amusing seeing the celebs screaming when they got within six foot of cage !

Second program was a documentary about sharks and their natural habitat and alot of the people (scientists etc) being interviewed said that there is so much that we still dont know about sharks to this day.

Way I look at it, you disturb a shark in its own little area / teritory and it will attack you. You shouldnt be there so its youre own fault. Alot of the more aggresive fish (Pirhana and Cichlid families) are extremely teritorial, disturb them and you will get bitten.

Its the same as people that get attacked by the big cats, you wander into their teritory and they will attack you if they arnt happy about it. You wouldnt casually go walking round a safari park to look at the Lions due to the danger so its the same with Sharks.

I'm looking forward to Channel Five 'Greatest Celebrity TV Moments Involving Celebs Desperate For A BIt Of Airtime Acting Like Louts And Gettting ASBO'D'....

Here's hoping they merge it with the 'Killer Shark' program, then we could have 'Celebrity When Sharks Attack!'... now THAT I'd watch...

Animals have to live in alot more harsh conditions than we do, they cant just open a fridge and make a sandwich or if its raining go indoors and put the heating on.

Its survival of the fittest in the wild and if they are hungry they will feed on whatever is fresh meat regardless of it being human or animal.

Trouble is though, human condition basically says go get the animal that has done this as if its done it once it will do it again. Its never considered that whoever is trespassing on the animals teritory and disturbing them was in the wrong in the first place for being there. They have as much right to live and feed as we do.

Ive just spent 2 weeks in the bahamas - one week of which is in the Atlantis hotel - which has massive aquariums. There are literally hundreds of sharks there and i have spent loads of time looking at them. They are absolutely amazing creatures - they look awesome - fearsome as well!

In my opinion if you get eaten by a shark it aint gonna happen when your at home - its gonna happen when your in their home.

people need to learn more about the world intsead of killing everything that ever threatened their way of life. we belong to the world, it doesnt belong to us; something I believe a certain nation needs to come to realise. espcially since one of its major cities was devestated earlier this month...

Well, sharks don't usually eat humans, usually it's just a bit and release job, only trouble is with big sharp teeth like that it tends to be somewhat fatal to us soggy skin-bags.. However, some sharks cotton on to the fact that a human splashing around in the water is a pretty easy kill for them, so they tend to start hunting man-flesh (damned easier than chasing seals around)..

Similar stuff happens to big cats in africa etc, the average villager tends to be easy meat so the odd one gets a bit of a taste for human, then people go nuts and wipe everything out in retaliation, similar things happen with sheep and cattle, at the end of the day it's just instict for them, for humans, we actually make that choice to enter their domain, or to retaliate on a grossly inflated scale..

Humans can sometimes be the dumbest animals of all..

Lions are wierd. Next time you're on safari and you see a larege part of a pride there eating a carcass, get out of your land rover and walk towards them, showing no fear. I saw a wildlift program where the presenter did this.

    They fecking ran off!!!!!
