I always wondered how you'd go about seeing if stuff fits?

Well you should know what size you are, like a 32" trousers etc. But just like old fashioned catalogues you can try stuff and send it back with some online stores.

    Never tried either.

I know what sizes i normally get, but it's not aslways that simple is it.

Shoes are the worst. Mostly size 11, sometimes size 12 but I've got some size 10 boots and they're too big.

I've had some luck with ebay (they sell new clothes as well as used). And sizing hasn't been a problem, just had to work out what size i was first

Would be interested in links to proper stores though

I'd be surprised if online stores wouldn't let you return stuff if you try it and it doesn't fit properly/at all.

Like all UK shops though, the sizing varies from shop to shop, and also, with shoe sizing watch out for the Euro/GB sizing, I've found some places the shoes are actually sized in Euro, but the site has the UK sizing (Euro sizes have 0.75 of a UK size between them), so the sizing might be slightly wrong.

As for links, http://www.arcadiagroup.co.uk/promos...ash/index.html has some high street stores there.

I can't tell what size I am. I'm wearing some AE 32" jeans right now that are way too big. Most of my other 32" jeans fit perfectly. Lately, I bought some jeans from Eddie Bauer that I'm going to have to hand down to my younger brother because they are just way too small. I'm going to the mall this weekend to pick up some more jeans--you can bet I'm going to be in the dressing room trying them out first.

T-Shirts are the only things I would buy online.

If you're buying online from a highstreet store, I'm pretty sure you can take what you've bought back to the shop for exchanges/refunds/etc. Though why you would want to do that is beyond me - may as well just go to the shops in the first place!

Saying that though... I'll need a new coat for the winter and I really can't be bothered going into town for it.

Quite often high street stores stock shops according to the demographic make up of the area, eg in London you'll probably get a younger/trendier stock of clothing than a shop in Stratford on Avon, but you'll be able to buy it online, also some shops have stuff online only that you won't see in their high street stores.

Other than that, I'd just google 'clothes stores' or similar and go look at the websites, see if you can find what you like and order it, if it doesn't fit all you gotta do is send it back

Also some high street stores are too small. Take Fat Face, their stores are tiny, but they have loads on their online store that you just don't find in the shops.

    Same here

Size 12 and football boots are size 13 and were a pain to source - I had to order them from Adidas.

I've bought a few clothing items over the web - best advice is to check your clothes you already have for the sizes, that way you'll not get anything too big or small.

Imagine the high rate of returns they must get! I'd never buy from and online clothes shop, always have to try things on first.
