ECS Competition - Official HEXUS announcement

As I am sure the majority of you are aware we recently had a competition to walk away with two rather tasty ECS motherboards, all you had to do was to come first and second and you got a board each. This is seems was too tempting for some people to play fair and we have been evaluating both the time and location votes were placed from and also the number of posts the members had who voted.

Now it has become apparent that there was some serious mis-trust of the HEXUS.net staff and its genuine members, by some people who’s greed led them to believe they could sway the vote and still walk away with the prizes on offer.

As it stands, it has been decided that HEXUS.net will fully reveal the people who have made such an attempt to walk away with a prize at the expense of other competitors who played fair. All votes by 0 post rated visitors were removed from this competition as default, there will be a new rule introduced for further competitions that will accommodate this in future. For this reason there will only be one prize made available to the 1st place winner, for whom, no evidence showed any foul play, the second ECS motherboard will go out in another competition to be held at a future date.

As a result the following has been decided:

1st place – Won by Xcelsion - The winning entry was - Because I want one. Blunt honesty is my new strategy.
This prize win will be honoured and I would ask that Xcelsion contact me via PM with full details for shipping the prize of your choice out to yourself.

    2nd Place – Won by mr_anderson187
Through investigation it became totally apparent that this user had decided to get either a bunch of users names together or got a lot of friends at his University to vote for him, therefore all votes for this user made by 0 voters were cancelled. User was disqualified from this competition. It has also been decided that this user is banned from all future competitions on HEXUS.net

We were then going to give the second place motherboard to the 3rd placed person, but as it turns out they have been trying to sway votes and there were multiple votes from the same people, who incidentally decided to get involved in the defence of the person I warned, who in turn kicked off the whole investigation process. So unrealuniverse will not be taking 2nd place and is also banned from taking part in any future HEXUS.net competitions.

We have all the evidence on this, it is not open to debate, this has been decided at the top level of HEXUS.net, we are not interested in any discussion on this, period. We would request the people that have wasted many hours of our time and the time of the honest members who took part apologise for this episode, but we will leave this up to the people concerned.

HEXUS has tried very hard to get prizes to give away, in fact, we have given away over £1,600 worth of kit in under two months, heck its more than that in all honesty.

For the above reasons, we will no longer be putting items to a public vote, and they will be selected in a different manner, with different rules associated with the posting of the competition in the first place, this also applies to any current competitions, so the winner of the competition closing tonight for the PowerColor Radeon X850 Pro 256MiB will be dealt with internally and a winner announced in due course.

I thank you for your time and trust that this unfortunate matter is now closed.

    Matt.

a VERY sad day for the whole of hexus to be honest

i have always held a lot of trust in these forums (especially when trading in the for sale/trade forums) and the people on them

i hope nothing like this happens again on hexus

Wow. I'm overwhelmed guys. I really can't thank the Hexus moderators, ECS and of course the users of Hexus for both their generosity and support in voting for me. I never expected to win, and to do so has really made my year.

My birthday is in 2 weeks, and I can assure you this'll be the best present I've ever recieved

Once again, thank you Hexus. I've PM'd my details to you Matt.

The point is - We want to do give aways, we want you guys to have the latest kit - infact we have heaps of them planned.

I want everyone to learn from this incident - its not good for the community, or HEXUS alike
