does any one use floppy disks any more?
does any one use floppy disks any more?
Please write your complaint legibly in that box -->[].
no,
tbh who need them when portable flash media is so cheap
and lots of people carry round 20, 40 even 60gb portable media centers with them these days!
and web hosting is even more available so you can just upload your stuff onto you server and download it when ever!
Not really.
Yes, every time I have to install XP with a bloody SATA controller that it doesn't recognise out of the box. Oh, and when I DBAN a machine at work prior to...percussive retirement...
Nope, although my mobo did come with one It was never used.
I use them quite frequently and wouldn'y really bebael to do everything I use a computer for without them.
Yeah, I use them on older systems to shift little files across without dragging out the serial cable.
Bloody unreliable items though. I had no issues with the old 360K 5 1/4 etc etc, but once it got to 2Mb (or 1.44 without CAV) 3 1/2 it started to feel like 50% of discs would have an error.
Yes. They're cheap. They're useful. Don't be a technosnob, just use the damn things when they're the best way of doing something.
There's nothing to be proud of if you find a more technologically advanced way to do something if it's difficult or takes longer!

Dave
I haven't used one for years and don't even have a floppy drive.
I have an exceedingly useful 256MB PNY USB drive though
no since the ol' bbc comp broke........oh, wait, sorry. nah, havn't used a floppy in years, will have to soon, building a pc for a mate that needs sata drivers, could be interesting
Pirates = Win.
Nope.
Removed my floppy drive ages ago.
I only need them when I'm installing a SATA drive. I usually take out the floppy drive after my window installs.
All the people on about SATA - I had it out the other day to install windows on a system running from an ATA66 controller it didn't have the driver for.
use them all the time pretty annoying when they work son some machines and dont on others, have to fix then using norton disk doctor as well 'cause most people at work still use them to transport files,i wish they would use something a bit more reliable. its alwyas my fault when they dont work lol
Permanently confused
Yes I use them at work for booting ghost, flashing BIOS' etc. At home they are redundant.
