Amazon have refunded me, and let me use it for a month .. not sure if I will risk using them though just incase..
I'm still considering tesco it's just a brand I 'trust' I guess.
Do you guys get proof of postage when sending them back? - that would be a pain for me (as I have no idea where the nearest post office is.. surely there is one somewhere in the city centre.. but I bet its a fair walk from my home->work route, where-as there is a postbox just on my way to the bus stop each morning ).
If it went missing in the post on the way back without proof of postage though :/
edit: I've just realised, what about Blockbuster? .. nobody has mentioned them

We cannot choose what we are.. but what are we but the sum of our choices?
Dont worry about proof of post. Tesco dont.Originally Posted by Starburn
Do not even bother with blockbuster. Bunch of monkeys.

May i just add that Tesco DVD rental IS Screenselect in disguise
If you sign up with Tesco, it's Screenselect you are getting. Screenselect used to be called Video Island (still are, but call their DVD rental side Screenselect).
I find it quite amusing that someone would drop Sceenslect for Tesco's!
Like i said, PC me your email address for a free trial of Screenselect. They DON'T charge you until you trial has ended.
But ScreenSelect is more expensive? ^o|
edit: also in their t&cs:
"We reserve the right to charge a replacement cost of up to £20 for any non returned DVDs. To avoid problems, we advise obtaining a certificate of posting when you return our DVDs to us."
Which means I'd have to hunt down a post office everytime I wanted to return a dvd? :/

It's just a get out clause if you stop paying your subscription. I have had 3 DVD's over a year go missing in the post. I just log in and use the problem solver page. They automatically just send another one out and have never charged me.Originally Posted by Starburn
And trust me, you dont need proof of purchace. Screenselect have to swallow a certain number of losses. If they did not they would have no customer and no business!

We're with love film, which have been pritty reliable for the last few years.
- But yes, basicaly every disk counts as a separte rental, with a few exceptions.
- But certainly all of Scrubs s1 is 3rentals, but they're very clear about this, each disk has its own page and is treateded as a wholey seperate transactioin.
- See here.

I'm trying out ScreenSelect at the moment..
(seen as both Tesco and MSN use them for their services.. so that is a good indication ).
Will see what they're like in the next few weeks..
though tbh I've had difficulty choosing at least 10 titles for them to make my account active! ended up just choosing some random films lol :/

Why does it mater if the season sets come as seperate? Do you plan to watch a complete series of scrubs in one day or something?
I guess its jsut the it affectivly costs three times as much!Originally Posted by dangerous_dom
No, its a set monthly fee.
I know that, but affectivly it does cost three times as much, as they take up three times as much time, meaning you can get out less 'DVDs' within that month.Originally Posted by dangerous_dom

Been with lovefilm for years now, since they were dvdsontap.
Have to say that recently I'm not overly impressed with them, the new fair use policy sucks. They don't actually say when they limit you, I had to email customer services to ask why my previous films were showing as returned but there was no sign of the next one being sent out.
Of course this is just a postage saving exercise, as if all customers turned round films quickly then everyone could get films at least somewhere near the top of their list
Erm, ok. Guess it depends on how you want to look at it. A DVD is a DVD if you ask me, you don't get less DVD's that month. It would cost you three times as much to but a 3 DVD set as buying 3 single DVD's often too.Originally Posted by oshta
There's another way to look at it.Originally Posted by dangerous_dom
If you got the entire season as one rental, you'd know when you were going to get the next disk in a series, because you'd already have it. But as you get the disks in a series one at a time, you never quite know when you'll get it.
I've been watching Babylon 5 again. Season 1 and Season 2 came out pretty much one disk after another. The first disk of season 3 arrived, then I've had all sorts of other stuff, despite Babylon 5 being marked as Priority 1, and no B5 for about three weeks.
If a season was a single rental, I could have watched all of season 3 by now, instead of having to wait who knows how long for the next installment. It makes watching it disjointed.
Who do you use Saracen? I watch a lot of TV series on DVD from SS. 24 season 1, 24 season 2, Live of Birds, Life of mamals, 4400, Firefly and many others. They have always sent them out in order and never sent anything else out before i have completed watching a series.
