    DVD rental by post

Well, I signed up with amazons dvd rental service..
only to realise they count each individual disc as a rental, thus adding scrubs season 1 counts as 3 rentals :/

Cancelled straight away and emailled in the hope of trying to get a refund.

Just looking at Tesco dvd rental, does anybody know if this works in the same way?
Although it isn't as much of a problem with Tesco due to their unlimited amount per month (with Amazon it was 6 per month, so simply renting scrubs would have taken up half of my monthly limit :/ ).

    Cheers.

I think they all do I'm afraid - I had the same problem with hiring farscape from screen select - it makes more sense to buy them than rent 'em.

But with tesco being unlimited its not that bad ..
I can queue them all up, and just keep posting them back.. this way I can watch every episode of stargate..

I've read tescos t&cs a few times and I can't find a mention of a per-disc policy, but I suspect you are correct.
I can't find anything in the terms and conditions that limits the "unlimited" rentals in any way either (don't want to sign up to a second service in one day and find out it's rubbish too!).

I use the same as Davos, lovefilm.com pay the tenner a month, get as many dvds as you can cram in one at a time on a good month you can get a 3 day turn around per dvd saves paying 4 quid a shot at block busters

Looked at their t&cs.. subject to a fair use policy? :/ nah. Tesco doesn't mention that.
I'm heavily considering signing up with Tescos..

If Amazon refuse to refund me.. then ah well, I'll rent some from there too this month! lol :/

I read around about love film, it seems they don't tend to send out the top in your list & the turnaround is fairly slow.. then again according to these reviews tesco is the same.
Not sure if its worth it..

£14.99/month.. I'd want to get at least a full series of Stargate or more (thats got to be a fair amount of discs)..

    hm.

customer service is prob best i have dealt with on internet, right alongside play.com

With screenselect I was receiving, watching and returning a DVD a day - so I was getting roughly 6 a week. Then after two months or so, suddenly they were getting 'caught' in the post - ie arriving, but sitting in my account for around 3-4 days before being dispatched. I went to cancel, and they informed me that I had to return these DVDs by the next day (billing day) or I'd be charged another month! Well, they've gone back now - not dealing with them again.

I'm going to wait for a day or so for a reply from Amazon..

If they don't refund me.. well I guess I'll find out what they're like (even if I can only rent 6 discs :/ ).

When was that? A few months ago thier warehouse burnt down and things did get a little slow, but they gave me a free month without me even asking.

I have been using them for over a year now and they have been brilliant, even at xmas time when the post is slow. I have nothing but praise from Screenselect, i think they are great. I even emailed them once requesting rare a DVD they did not have. They replied personally to my email and had it listed within 6 hours!

I have heard nothing but bad things about amazon, but have not used lovefilm. They sound good to.

Tesco definately do the same. A six disk series counts as six rentals if you want them all.

Tesco is actually Video Island and they had a fire Sept 1st. Despite supposedly being "back to normal" a week later, they are STILL taking up 3 days to send films out to me, whereas before the fire it was usually same day as receipt, next day at worst.

I'm about to cancel and try someone else.
