    I love my friends
If one of my friends kissed or hugged me (drunk or not), the night would end.

I'm suprised mmh hasn't limped his way over to post here, He got extremely drunk last night and raised the bar for us all by actually having an ambulance called for him!

I wouldn't call that raising the bar. That's just being stupid.

i'd rather have "all the rubbish that drink brings ya" to all the rubbish that drug abuse (other than alcohol) brings ya.

didnt intend to start that kind of debate here more of a throwaway comment tbh..but don't forget that alcohol is a hard drug thats just legal, and its mainly still legal as the economy would go bust if the governement stopped being so hypocritical and illegalised it...it's a poison (hence the hangover) and it is no better for your body that using any plant or other chemical based drug. The 'rubbish it brings you' is just as bad, and like all other drugs if your responsible its ok. That is a few drinks etc and your fine, too many and you get pissed, make silly mistakes have a horrible hangover and feel stupid.

But anyways you pays your money you takes your choice...

thing is i VERY RARELY get a hangover. Saturday morning was the first time i'd had a hangover since my 18th birthday (3 years ago ) Yes it is a poison, diuretic, stimulat, depressant, and dehydrant, but at least you know where its coming from when you drink it. Drugs are way too haphazard for my liking, and would rather not take the risk. Also i've seen the comedowns and paranoia/schizophrenia associated with various drugs affect my friends. It's a risk i'd rather not take. I'll stick to booze, where i can control (should i want to) the effect it has on my body.

edit: whether they're legal or not doesnt come into it. If you want to take drugs, it's not difficult to get your hands on anything, so they're just as widely available, just not quite as noticably available.

Last comment on the issue before i get accused of thread jacking EDIT -OOPS longer than i meant to write for...

The legality may not be an issue for myself, or you, but for most people it is It is an important issue although not really relavent here. You don't know where your alcohol is coming from all the time, granted it is safer in those terms alone than many 'other' intoxicants in that buying from a reputable pub etc you are almost guarenteed to know what it is your buying, but you can't be 100% certain, and if you get cheap vodka or whatever from the local corner shop you have no ideal if its been relabled, rebottled or whatever..

"Drugs are way too haphazard for my liking" That is a true statement, can;t argue wtih it All drugs are haphazard, alcohol included. you can have one drink and be fine, or one drink and be off your head. You can drink lots and have no hangover, or drink a little and have a hangover, alcohol is just as haphazard as any other drug..paranoia/schizophrenia - just as likely to suffer from these problems with alcohol as with many other street drugs...I'm sure you know what I am comparing against mainly ( a certain class C one) and there has been no conclusive evidence that it can cause paranoia/schizophrenia/psychosis etc - yet there is for alcohol....

As for controlling your intake well yes you can do that wtih any drug though. Even a heroin user can control their intake - many people take heroin once a year, or every few weeks and have no problems doing it at that level (not me natch!).

The moral of the story is that alcohol is just like any other drug, be it class A,B,C or unclassified, in moderation it is fine - doesnt mess you up, doesnt mess others up. The problems start when you do one of the drugs to excess, in alcohol's case due to low dosage that people take you can't normally have enough to kill yourself, but you do get very drunk and do silly things, and 9/10 times regret it in the morning. Other drugs are easier to OD on and therefore get addicted to etc, but it doesnt make alcohol any better or safer just because most people drink.. moderation = good, excess = bad (as i found out many times before i decieded i didnt like the hangovers etc
