No, what im saying is that you could wire car neons up to a 12V source. And cars arent that unstable really, 13.8 or 11.4V pretty much depending whether engine on or off.

Dont have too many neons underneath or there just wont be enough seats for all the girls in your car

So, you're saying that I should have compared it to big firm implants instead of old lady jubblies?

Unless his Neons have silly power ratings a decent 350w supply will be able to power a fair few of them. While using one of my '350w' ebuyer power supplies however (as supplied with a cheapo case), connecting my two 12" UV cold cathode tubes caused the CPU fan to noticeably slow down.

Anyway, assuming your supply is up to the job, then as previously stated the yellow line in a molex is 12V and the blacks are ground. To actually switch on the PSU you need to short the green wire going into the ATX power connector with one of the black wires - a paperclip will do for testing.

Err, the fan slowing might of been caused by interference from the intervertor if it was on the same part of the switchmode PSU as the fan.

The biggest problem is the highfrequency can often caus a hum. This isn't good now is it.

Might have been, but seeing as I observed the exact same behaviour when priming a heavily overclocked and overvolted CPU (it crashed, and then the CPU fan speeded right up again) I'm pretty sure it's just that the PSU is crap.

    That is WORYINGLY crap PSU.

the current load really shouldn't be enough to budge the rails enough for you to notice a fan change (rember you hear log)

    Thanks for the help everyone.

In the end, i scavenged around and found an old PC cold cathode so i used that instead. Really could have done with it being blue but you cant have your cake and eat it.
