Unhappy Think George Best is gonna leave us soon

I don't think the old bugger is gonna last much longer. Just seen the news and he's not a well bunny.

    So sad...such monster talent.

Hope you're ok George, in which ever way you can be His wife must be going through hell....again.

Why do the genius' of this world, the turly awe inspiring people, get so close to dangerous
    life styles

Is it what makes them who they are?

George..... hope you hang in ..... if you want to.

He's definitely one of those rare football geniuses and I'd definitely class him among the top elite with Pele and Maradona.

I sincerely hope he makes it otherwise it will be a tragic loss for football.

I find it hard to have any sympathy for him, regardless of his extraordinary talent, as his problems are due to his excessive drinking and the damage it has done to him. Hope he does pull through tho, wouldn't wish it on anyone

    you're right....of course....but I still pity him.

I also respect him for living as hard as he has and getting this far! He's had a battleground lifestyle!

To be honest I think it would be better for him to slip away quietly. You really need to look after yourself after any type of organ transplant, which he has not been able to do. A pneumonia is a much nicer way to go than florid liver failure. Fingers crossed he gets better, but if not a dignified and peaceful death.

Wouldn't wish death on anyone, but he asked for it. Its entirely his own fault. He got another chance and blew that one. allthough his current condition i not a result of him continuing his drinking after the transplant, it is IMHO poetic justice that this happened.
The first time round, he had my sympathy. not this time. Waste of a perfectly good liver.

I agree and what does make it worse, he was already given a second chance of life with a transplant, what a waste!!

I had to re-read this entire thread before I realised it said 'George Best' instead of 'George Bush'....

Anyway, I have very little sympathy for him. Hes an arrogant, womanising, wife beating pisshead. Hes drinking himself to death, and in all honesty, I don't see why we're all fussing over him. Hes had more privaleges and second chances than any other person would get; I doubt many other alcoholics would be so willingly offered a transplant.

If he dies, its purely down to his own recklessness and self-abuse.

George Best - convicted drink driver and a wife beater to boot. Drank himself to oblivion and got a new liver and then continues drinking. They should have let him die first time round and give the liver to someone more deserving.

One of the BBC newsreaders on News 24 made this mistake earlier this afternoon saying something along the lines of "George Bush is on his deathbed...". I had the telly on in the lounge and I rushed from the kitchen all excited...
