    no solutoins, just some calulations...
    Someone suggested simple substitution...
Some stats on that lump of text

all text capitalised, numbers and +/ left as is:
    char hex ascii freq
    V 56 86 63
    E 45 69 61
    H 48 72 54
    A 41 65 53
    Q 51 81 51
    U 55 85 49
    W 57 87 49
    G 47 71 48
    I 49 73 48
    C 43 67 47
    P 50 80 47
    F 46 70 46
    Y 59 89 46
    K 4b 75 45
    L 4c 76 45
    B 42 66 44
    R 52 82 44
    M 4d 77 43
    X 58 88 43
    N 4e 78 41
    O 4f 79 41
    Z 5a 90 41
    J 4a 74 39
    D 44 68 37
    S 53 83 36
    T 54 84 34
    1 31 49 30
    2 32 50 28
    6 36 54 28
    4 34 52 26
    5 35 53 24
    9 39 57 24
    7 37 55 22
    + 2b 43 21
    0 30 48 20
    3 33 51 20
    / 2f 47 18
    8 38 56 16

in terms of substitution, using data off the wikipedia for letter frequencies...

    you get:
    Code:
    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

    Lmao.

Well, somebody on the other forum has converted each of the characters to hex, for absolutely no reason. At least we're closer than he is?

Have you a link to the original thread? You mentioned something about people typing out an xmas song ... maybe there's a clue to it all somewhere!

Well, it's more a collection of threads than one individual thread:
    http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewforum.php?f=13292

The thread entitled: 'Journal of ElfTech247' is the one from which the encrypted message is taken, however.

Somebody has decided that it's DEFINITELY base64 and has decoded it then put it in hex:

I'm thinking that as it's only got numbers, letters, and + and / in it that it's less involved than decoding to base64 and using hex...

Ok, the admins have started posting hints, now.

247 mentioned that his password had '10 letters'. Another ElfTech has mentioned that she had a nightmare about her maths homework, but doesn't do maths...

Of course, the most interesting thing is that ElfTech101 had a dream in which 247 was a BLOWFISH and said 'ayiraganap'.

Blowfish is an encryption method, ayiraganap is a 10-letter word. Incidentally, spelling it backwards gives Panagariya, which is the surname of the artist of www.applegeeks.com, which 247 has also mentioned...

Unfortunately, passing either of the codes through a Blowfish decrypter does nout, so I'm stuck.

looking through a book in computing about encryption - i stumbled across CSR (certificate signing request) there was some examples of it and it looks identicle to the code you posted.

i believe you need a key to decrypt this message however

I have no idea what to use to do this, but rather than common base systems, what if you keep the locations of the / and + symbols and run the rest in the blocks that fall between them as if it were (26+26+10) Base62 or capitalise all the letters and use Base36 then attempt to turn that into other common codes, like Base26 for the alphabet or to Ascii?

I'm just wondering if the slashes are supposed to be there, like it's an address or something.
