    Space Cadets....

This new show is on tonight (Ch4 9pm) sounds like a fantastic idea to me, tricking people into thinking they are really going into space. When they leave though they will get £5k per day that they are involved so that could help cheer them up.

Do you think it's right to trick people like this and then broadcast it on tv?

I've been intrigued by this from the ads. I suppose, it's not like it is done out of malice and the best the production company can do is speak to the family and friends of the people to see how they'd think they'd react. It's not like the show is making money via making a show out of nothing. Haven't read much about it at all but i assume the people on it know a show is being made. They just think its about them trying to make it into space, not what is actually going on.

Tbh though, i don't see how anyone could think that a reality TV program could have enough money/resources to send anyone to space (i assume that's what they all think the winner gets) let alone be stupid enough to put people in a competition to win such a life threatening adventure, so the contestants obviously haven't thought too much into it.

lol, I think this is going to be bloody brilliant.

I think it's good people get tricked into this stuff , makes GREAT TV, it's just CH4's humour I guess.

If they didn't get any reward though... then that would be just plain mean.

They only get the 5k a day and they won't even know about that until they leave.

There are ment to be a couple of actors in there as well to help things along.

Reward? I'd say it would be more like compensation, well especially if the people involved were die hard space fans and saw this as their only opportunity to make it into space. I imagine no amount of money could really compensate those kind of people. I'd expect though that it is more likely that it is a bunch of reality tv wannabes who have gone "gone into space eh? yeah sure, it'll be on TV" and don't really care about making it, they just think it would be a laugh to try.

I know if it was me id be pretty damn gutted, although 5k a day for what, at least 4 weeks would probably help a lot. When i first saw it i thought it was gonna be with kids, which would be the cruelest thing ever tbh.

I'm going to watch this and see what it's like, I think it will either working fantastically well, or just not at all.... At least the cash will make up for not actually going into space

Yeap... and apparently some idiot left a blind open so the cliffs of dover could be seen easily. Luckily a steward noticed and diverted the attention of the "victims" and they closed the blind.

I cannot wait to see this tonight - thanks for the reminder or I would have missed this.

I heard on the radio this morning that the "dupees" are in fact bona fide nutters who regularly talk to space aliens ...
