Scotty's Ashes to be scattered in space

The ashes of James Doohan, who played Scotty in Star Trek (his death reported yesterday,) are to be blasted into space on a rocket!
The ashes of Star Trek actor James Doohan, who died on Wednesday, are to be sent into space at his request.

Doohan, who was 85, played engineer Scotty in the original sci-fi series, died of pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease at his home in Washington.

His agent said Doohan and his wife Wende had discussed sending his ashes into space, following those of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.

Star Trek co-star William Shatner has sent his condolences to the family.

"A long and storied career is over," Shatner said.

This has been in the news for like... since he died

Nah, the old rocket wasn't blasted off because it broke I thought? So they finally got around to it. But definitely the best way to be "buried". I think he deserved that one, he was an absolute legend.

The Romulans refused permission for his rocket to enter the neutral zone apparently, so the whole thing was scraped. Can't cause a war over one dead man and his wish.

Awww that sucks. Can't the Klingon Empire lay a hand to help due to the Alliance between them and Star Fleet?

Because it took Stewart over a year and a half to come up with a witty response
