    Autofill on iPod Nano

I'm not sure whether this thread should be here or not, but no-one is answering the thread I posted in Apple Juice. I'm wondering whether, as many sites seem to suggest, but I can't find, the iPod Nano has an autofill feature. If I let iTunes pick random tunes to fill the 2GB, it seems to pick several whole albums, or chunks of the library. It's not exactly random. Do I have to put up with this, or is there another way around it?

my suggestion would be to make a new smart playlist in itunes.

    limit to 2gb

    select by random

any other otoins you wanna change. simply add all files from that playlist to your ipod.
then you can refresh the playlist when you want to change songs.

It might be the randomness settign in the iTunes configuration, I'm sure there's a sldier to determine the continuity of the shuffle setting. Might be worth a look.

I'll have a look Dr. X. I was just listening to my nano in the bath and it played 10 Beatles songs in a row. Not that I mind that, but it's not exactly random :d

Having said that, I'm really pleased with the player overall, although the car tape connector kit is a bit rubbish. It works, but won't skip/fast forward and is a pig to eject.

you've got an option for randomness - where far left states something along the lines of "likelihood of playing multiple songs by same artist" and the far end is "much less likely" - or words to that effect.
I think Davos' suggestion is an excellent idea - might do that to get an amusing 2 hour mix for walking the dog!
