Anyone been messing around with the new chat feature that is built into Gmail. It's pretty cool you can basically use it like MSN and chat to other people who also have a GMail account.

Yeah ive been using it a bit, It's handy when you are checking your emails but doubt id use it over MSN just doesn't have enough features

Actually not all accounts have had the feature enabled, i'm a gmail user and still without it, my girlfriend annoyingly has it, it's currently be rolled out gmail-wide though.

If you mean Google Talk, they yeah its been out for ages. I got an invite for it from a friend in August.

I don't think he means google talk. I don't use Gmail/google talk, but I read this a while ago:

Google are intergrating google talk into their Gmail web interface so you can read emails and chat at the same time in the same window.

I THINK this is what he mean - apologies if it isn't .

I have had this a while, but Google said that it would take 2 weeks for everyone to get this feature.

Also, if you want all the features in Gmail, change you language settings to English (US) rather than English (UK) if you have the UK version, as it takes a while for them to do localisaton. For example the Accounts feature where you can email from other email accounts in Gmail took ages to appear on UK. In the end I just leave it on US now, so that I don't have to wait aslong.

But Famished is correct in it being cool, and to be honest, I prefer less features. Infact when I use MSN I use patches to remove all the adds and pointless features like winks? Thats just my opinion though.
