Im currently planning a leeds-liverpool ride for in the easter holidays, should be suitably knackering, but the most ive ever done at the moment is 28 miles, but that was all (bar about a mile of it) off road, and quite muddy. I hate riding in mud, its nearly as bad as grass.
Yeah, the route I went was about 99.5% off road, in the mud.. so quite knackering, but was great fun .Originally Posted by herulach
Bad thing was I had to keep stopping every few miles because I had a slow puncture (got it about half way through to Whitby).
And you didnt have a spare tube? I wouldnt leave the house without at least:Originally Posted by XA04
Tube, puncture kit, pump, multitool, food, powerlinks and all the other crap that has accumulated in the bottom of my camelbak. Except for commuting obviuosly, when i just carry a tool and some of this stuff
A round 60 miles, but that was norfolk so not as hard as some places
Which way would you go? if you following the canal area you will pass my house lolOriginally Posted by herulach

No idea, im yet to need it. Not had a puncture in the last few months at all actually. *touches wood*Originally Posted by 5lab
Took all that apart from a spare tube (that link looks great though, will look into getting that!), and since it was a slow puncture I couldn't be bothered to take the back wheel off and patch it up.Originally Posted by herulach
Just sorted my bike out, it was a small nail/carpet tack that was stuck in it. Hosed all the mud off it earlier today, oiled chain up, tightened bits up etc. Good as new again .

I do, this is just for my ride to uni, worst case it doesnt work and i have to walk about 500 yards to the nearest bike shop (i pass 4 on the way)Originally Posted by 5lab
most knackering in a day? about 50 miles from sea level to 1500m in Tasmania, from Devonport to Cradle Mtn, in the summer. Winding, winding, up and up.
Also did a trip over the ridgeback in Taiwan, from sea level to 3200m and down the other side, along the coast, down to the southern tip. Took about 5 days, but was interesting in that it included tropical heat by coral seas, snow storms / blizzards, icy rain, 40 miles of freewheel downhill from the summit, pitch black tunnels, in mid winter.
in my youth...........(sigh)
bout 2 miles if that ...
padstow to wadebridge and back..
anyone know how far that is? not very if i remember
