Personally, I still enjoy building the odd machine here and there; I don't do it for the common run of machines at work - "Dude, you're getting a Dell", and before anyone says it, we use Optiplexes, which are a very different kettle of fish to the Dimension home systems - but do every so often for special purposes, like several media centres that I built to run plasmas and a box that serves as a network renderer for 3DStudio Max. My own workstation's a self-build as is my home machine (actually that one's more a self-re-build, and Scan now own my soul). I just like picking and choosing the bits for myself.

After a recent build (one of many for various friends and collegues), I now get calls like "it won't connect to the internet any more" despite working for the first month.
Am about to start a whole new base unit for another collegue, but have made it clear that i will provide no further support once i've tested it to be fully working....

    Fingers crossed

Yep I'm very with my flying machine. Certainly helped that the case is large, avoided too many cuts on razor sharp edges.

My parents never fail to mention in a conversation with ANYONE, that i am 'good' with computers. I detest setting up wireless networks. I'll get a call asking if i can come and fix the wireless. i say "...right click, and choose repair". "nope, thats not worked". i go round and click it and guess what....It works!!

Dont get me started on wireless networks!!!
I had someone the other day who wanted to set up a new wi-fi network without even 1 cabled machine. First thing i did - take an ethernet cable around there.
I soooo wish i charged money for help....
