    yes because in the future its not going to be an mp3 player you going to need a large HDD because eventually You'l just carry 1 device that will store all you e-mail be your phone ipod and DS/PSP as well as acting as a pen drive.. but no not for just music because the riaa have no intention of releasing a working sacd / dd-a that you can copy onto an ipod anytime soon and its been proven by people far cleverer than I using double blind testing that you can't tell the difference between a lame -v2 / -alt preset standard |(old settings) and a flac file if your just using standard phones with moderate background noise. Having said that if the widget keeps clocking in at 2hrs a show i might have to change my mind. Unles some blessed soul manages tro make file sharing legal in which case we will need them yes.
    AMD3000+ ATIX800XL + GBNF44x mobo.. all at stock because they're good enough atm + CA A1 amp-->Mission 73S Loigtech MX1000 + 1GB ram + 1/3 TB HD array
    Wintendo XP + Linux (when it works) .. just incase you were wondering

    "Line level" is acctually very near the loudest mp3 players are designed for, as they are usually used with in-ear headphones which require much less power (hence you need an amp for your headphones). Running it this high (I would say loud, but its not... yours simply need more power to be as loud) adds plenty of distortion. Line level on my rio karma, is 28-29 out of 30.
    OK so that's exactly the same as mine where the line level output is either off when the volume is zero or is a full 250mV at any volume setting from 1 to 40?????

    I need an amp because its line level output has no current!

    Obviously I'm using £360 of headamp and headphone to listen to distortion

    Personally i wouldn't bother buying a music player with more than 60gig, in fact i wouldn't even bother buying a music player with more than about 20.

    However, music and video players are a different story. The more the merrier in my opinion

    bring on the 100gig + drives i say

    I've got a Sony NWA3000 (20gb) and a pair of Shure E2g's (thanks Hexus reviews ) and i can fit enough decent quality music onto it.. it depends whether you are going to listen to all of the music. I have at least 60gigs worth in CD's, mp3 files, etc. but i wouldn't want all of them on my player.

    I couldnt fill up that much... well I could but i'd probably skip every other track or something like that

    Need to buy a 2gb nano, that'll do me just fine or maybe a 4gb
    Thanks,

    I have 120GB of music so I would greatly appreciate a very large portable media player.

    As a portable player, nah you really dont. Its convinient, but you do not need all of that music. Ive got a 256mb player and I struggle to fill that with tracks I think Id wanna hear on the go. Don't get me wrong, I have alot of music but I personally don't feel the need to have it with me all the time.

    I easily filled a 20GB zen within a few months after saying "i couldn't possibly fill all this space" so i don't even think 40-60GB+ would last that much longer.

    However, I'd place size and battery life well above capacity. Theres no point lugging around a 100GB brick that can only manage a half hour of play before needing a re-charge.
