ive been able to get 3800 x2 for a price of around 170 inc VAT and free postage for a while now, but the prices listed in my first thread seems a little to cheap?

That's because it's a 3800 single core. They'll have to chop dual core prices soon too though (probably before mid-July), just wait a little while. Intel will be dropping the price of the 9-series (Presler?) processors to start below £100, and compared to that £170 for a 3800 X2 just isn't going to fly.

I view it as ending the high (for AMD) prices that have been going on recently. I remeber getting my 2500+ for $80 (50ish pounds I think). Now only semperons are in that ball park. Hopefully AMD chips will go back to the good deal they were.

Yeh, nervousness will be when they start dramatic drops on X2 chips if Conroe is what it's cracked up to be. I'd expect chips like X2 3800 to come at bargains.
