VERY loud subwoofers

Surely subwoofers can't be "loud" as the whole point of them is to produce frequencies below that which we can hear?

rather that say loud, you could say tuned low with lots of power, it makes a hell of a difference to how the box is designed and built.

loud at high frequencies = hurts your head
loud at sub frequencies = knocks the air from your stomach

both are sound pressure, it just feels different when it makes your rib cage resonate
