if you buy a licence for windows, then they can't breach that licence and change it. if in future you buy a 1 year licenece for windows, i dont see the problem with that.

I don't have time to read all of this thread but I scanned over it and didn't see this point written:
If people at home pirate Windows then they increase the Windows Userbase. The software these people do pay for will be Windows based, pushing up the productivity of people who program for Windows. The more they prosper, the more software for Windows you have and the more attractive it looks to someone who is considering buying an OS. If you took all the pirated versions out now, MS would lose half of their userbase, if they started using another OS then it would impact the buying community.
MS are sitting pretty already, I don't believe they want to rock the boat. The best thing I've ever heard from them is when all this WGA stuff started and they said "Everyone gets critical updates, but only genuine users can have all the updates". They keep their userbase, keep viruses from accumulating in Pirates' machines so we all get them and genuine users still get a better deal.
