    alienware us to alienware uk is the comparison!

    i except some price rise but 600-800 not what i call fair by any standards

    plus disposable income is now on the decline in uk so come on if you want us to spend those hard earned pounds give us the incentive too

    ok, off the top of my head..

    vat
    import tax
    higher transport costs
    higher storage costs
    higher advertising costs
    less economies of scale (less customers etc)
    conversions of PSU's etc
    higher wages

    theres probably a lot more..

    As a general rule of thumb, there is usually a direct sterling to dollar comparison on prices - something that costs 100 quid here will cost about 100 dollars in the US (yes, its a very very broad rule of thumb....).
    Also it depends where you buy stuff - alot of web sites in the US (e.g Amazon) don't charge you tax, because they are exploiting a loop hole. Some do charge you tax, depending on where you are buying from - the tax laws of the State you're in apply. THere have been moves afoot for a while to close the tax loop hole.

    I've bought a number of things in the US (mp3 players for example) for much less than here - the one thing you have to bear in mind is that once you take that item out of the US you are not covered by any warranty. Depends how much you value the warranty I guess.
