This is for UK people, and I checked with C4 and you DO NOT need a TV License to watch it! You just need to register and then you can watch it.

Wow nice find. Not like their Lost episode download of which they make no mention of the 99p charge when they pimp it at the end of the show. I wonder if the Lost download episodes still have adverts in?

Awesome, thanks.
Indeed - TV licences are BBC-related only as they have no ads and are government regulated. While with a TV you couldn't prove that you weren't watching BBC channels, this only allows you to see Channel 4, a commercial channel funded by adertising.Originally Posted by joshwa

Sweet. This keep me amused when I'm bored.
For those who are abroad though, a submit a simple solution for you.
Go to Wikipedia, and search for UK postal codes. They all tend to use the same format (ie, XXX XXX) in the same way US zip codes do. Just make up one from that information, and submit it as your postcode during registration. Done.
They give you an example postcode on the C4 website when you register that works with the site

sweet as The only possible problem is if they check IP's...i'll check when I get home from work tonight if it works over here..been missing out on C4 for 11 months now!
Pretty sure this isn't true. Channel4 is regulated by the government, but was setup as a commercial broadcaster at the outset. they do get some government funding as they have ran at a loss more years than they make a profit.Originally Posted by EvilWeevil
I'm also pretty sure you can't watch broadcast TV without a license even if you can possibly prove you don't watch the BBC.
Sorry about hijacking the thread.
What is the quality like on the live feeds? can't try it right now as i'm offshore on a rubbish connection.
Just tested on work PC, and it seems that this won't work outside of the UK - they have IP based filtering
I get an error code -1, which according to their site is 'geo filtering'.
So...anyone know of a fast, free uk proxy server ? )
in that case i won't be able to use this anywhere offshore. The only places with decent internet connections are some Shell platforms (that often resolve to Dutch IP addresses) or on Statoil platforms, which are Norwegian.
And why would i bother using this at home?
oh well, nice idea i guess though.
asked c4 about the error - they said: "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the Live streaming security system. (Error Code: -1) Our technicians are working to restore service ASAP. We apologize for the inconvenience."Originally Posted by Spud1
