My, what an ENORMOUS cannon, Bazz... *snigger*
My, what an ENORMOUS cannon, Bazz... *snigger*
Well, I've heard THAT before *giggles*
One might go as far as to think he's compensating for something.....of course I would never make such a comparison
We'll see but I doubt it, and this is why -
The threat of one of those sat 20 miles off your coastline armed and ready to strike is more than enough of a threat to kick any nation rogue or otherwise back into line imo.
Is that Trident Armed?
Oh, yeah.
lol, Ive got no military experience, I was going to apply for the RCB after uni, got all the prepartory interviews and then messed up my mcl (knee), and kinda lost my way on that front (beer, women etc ).
Its just Ive never read anything about the MLRS system being designed for nukes (only the ATACMCS could really carry a nuke imo). Id be surprised as the USA have plenty of superior delivery options for nukes at that level, especially as there is no forseeable use for tactical nukes these days.
Not to question your knowledge but as I said I've not seen anything ever about the ATACMCs been designed for WMD use (so far it has been made with bomblet payloads), plus I'd be surprised that the USA would export such a system as widely as the ATACMS has been.
most of my knowledge came from my studies at uni and a general interest in world affairs etc
Although they are never fully loaded. Normally 'only' six silos are loaded during 'peacetime'. Amazing bit of kit, almost undetectable via sonar, can run at over 30 knots and has enough destructive power to pretty much make the planet inhospitable for the next 10-20 years.
You are 100% correct though, they are a threat, designed to stop nuclear war via reverse psychology.
Anyway back to Big Boats, in the beginning there was :-
The start of the arms race!
Dreadnought! Fantastic!

No - HMS Queen Mary; one of the four battlecruisers that exploded at Jutland (hence the Beattie quote).
Aaah, didn't see that bit *mental note - Must read more carefully*. Must say they look rather similar from the front mind.
Anyway here is an easy, although very important one!
"I see no ships!!"
