    Stamps online

Superb..you can now print your postage online to save queueing behind the OAPS at the Post Office.

On the radio today there was outrage with people saying it's the death of the stamp.

Frankly I think it's a great idea..moving with the times and I don't have to see the Queen's face all the time.

They print out as barcodes and you can send special delivery.

Apparently the target market is ebayers and anyone who sells anything at auction sites.

when they first launched the service about 3 years ago, it used a flash app. to generate, and they wanted to charge quite a bit per month on top of stamp costs as a "convenience charge"

hopefully they've sorted this out as it was a complete joke! perfect for small biz, ebayers and the like!

This does look a lot better than Smartstamp (think that's what it is called) - no monthly fee or minimum spend - looks like you could buy 1 32p stamp (but with limited ways to pay)
    Might give it a bash

    Eye popping good!

Fantastic, now if only Apple would come to the rescue and let me use my printer with my Mac I would be fine.

Great idea though, can see it catching on in a hugh way.

Used it today to send a Recorded packet to someone. Worked very well, it prints you an address label with the postage on. I just wish for Recorded/Special Delivery items it printed the receipt slip as well which the staff behind the counter can stamp (to prove you gave it to them) and then you can be on your way. Today I had to write the address on the slip, stick the label on the packet, fill in my return address, and how much the item was worth for compensation purposes. This could all have been handled online and just stamped to verify it by the post office.

Doing it that way would also link the tracking number into the account, enabling you to log in and see what's been delivered without having to retype anything.

Hmm, the missus has been using Smartstamp for a while, but she gets charged a fiver a month to use that. I wonder if this will be any better for her...

I'm still wating for RM to impliment their adressless postage system.

This is where everyone can apply for a unique number (and barcode presumably) that you put on instead of an address. This corresponds to your actual address in their computer system. When a letter is sent to <random long number> the sorting office then print the actual address on the envelope and it is delivered. When you move house, you change your details with RM and all your mail will go to the new address.

I believe this was talked about over a decade ago.
