Madonna 'adopts child in Africa'

Now, don't get me wrong, encouraging people to adopt kids from desperate environments is a great idea, but surely Madonna would be better off thinking about how much money she'd spend raising one kid in her 'world' what with designer labels, private jets, education etc. etc. and using the money to build several great orphanages with quality education systems....

As a father myself I know what it costs to raise a kid. Once you factor in the kind of money Madonna's going to be throwing away buying this child all the latest stuff, you've got to be talking serious cash....

Are there no children to adopt in the UK or USA? I hope the child is not just another fashion accessory like prada shoes or bags.

Children are now being traded like commodities, i just up the poor child's lfe dosent get screwed up, in light of all the publicity wanted or unwanted they will receive in their life time.

Yep, good luck to them, although i cant help thinking that she woke up one day and decided, on a whim to get herself an African. Lets hope he turns out to be a typical chav-scum teenager and gives her a run for the money she paid for him.

I think what annoys me is how these very wealthy stars fly off to these countries and implore us all to give more of our money to save the poor people over there.

I have a few exceptions to this, having a very rich person telling me to give my money to causes 'close to their heart' when really I think they all want to look good about it. I do give to charity but only ones who do not parade characters imploring me to do so.

I am also against wrist bands (though now thank fully out of fashion) since it was 'hey look how many charities I support!' idea. Admittedly the first, a simple yellow 'Livestrong' from Lance Armstrong was a good idea.
