    How do i know who i can trust on ebay

    Trying t osell my LG chocolate i got with contract and received this email from a "US" buyer.

    Q: Hello seller, I'm interested in the immediate purchase of this item,which is needed in my store urgently in next 5 days, how much will you offer for the total cost of the item including shipping & insurance via DHL First Class,i will be paying you through a trusted name MoneyGram(M.O online which your moneyorder will be delivered to you at your doorstep).reply asap with your full name & address which you want you money order to be delivered too so that i can send to MoneyGram to send your money right away .please send your details include your email address in your reply so that can contact you anytime.i will be glad if you can end auction for the item now.Reply Asap NB:i would like buy the item to one of my store , pls let me know if you can ship tomorrow as soon as payment has been recieved

    Firstly is this common to get emails similar to this as i received an emial from someone in ghana before and had to relist the item. Also What would i be looking at, cost wise to ship to united states a phone box

    cheers all

    Anyone asking you to end the aution early and asking you to use their method of payment (this example being MoneyGram) is normally dodgy. Just tell him to wait until the end of the auction if he is serious.

    Also I never trust people with dodgy grammar

    Sounds completely dodgy, if he needed one so much he wouldn't buy one 2nd hand from a guy halfway across the world. Plus this sorta stuff happens 103028492384032784 times a day on eBay.

    It could also be another seller trying to get you to remove your item so that theirs does better, I've had that happen to me when the item was pretty rare and the other seller had a slightly inferior version.

    either way, tell them to bog off.

    A few things to note when selling a phone on eBay;

    If you sell the item before the item ends, it wont be an official eBay purchase. It's against the rules to do so and to ask someone to do so with normal auctions. If things goes the way of the pear, you will have no protection.

    Never accept payment with Moneygram or western union, just don't do it.

    When listing an item, select the options that don't allow people without a Paypal account to bid (even if you don't plan to take Paypal). Only allow people to bid if they are in the country you want to sell it in - simply saying where you are prepared to post it too does not stop people for Nigeria from bidding and only allow people with a positive feedback rating to bid. These options are not standard, you will have to go into the extra options.

    If you are careful, you should not have any problems. I have sold many phones on eBay, you just have to use your head and make use of the extra options. The Paypal one is the most effective - most scammers wont have a Paypal account.

    Never end early or deal outside eBay. Tell if he wants it so bad to bid on the auction and pay by whatever you specified.

    Yup, thats 100% SCAM, no preservatives. If you list electronics you are going to get those almost guaranteed.

    If you agreed I bet the first e-mail would be asking you to send it as a gift for their relative in Nigeria. Don't even look at the feedback, chances are its a hijacked account anyway - report it as a suspect to eBay and they will flag the account..
