Shelly, you seem to have taken offense. None was intended.

I wasn't asking you to "explain yourself" assuming you wore the chains in the suggested manner, I was asking to explain why you did, eg: do you see it as a good fashion statement/think it looks good, do you like to show off your wares, do you like to provoke attention etc etc. That sort of thing. In the same way I feel it looks tacky, and explained I think it looks like a female penis extension eg: "I've spent X on this and feel the need for everyone to know I've spent X on it even when my clothing covers it up"

I'm sorry if you've taken offense at that.

1st i am not racist, and have a friend who is quite happy being called black rob (due to the fact theres a white rob as well) so if the racism police can back off a little plz.

    anyway.

my m8 lee used to wear his chain outside his shirt/top's
he wasn't a "local" and lived in the next town, so basically he got ripped to bits by his mates who lived near me as it was not the fashion.
at the time the black singers were all bouncing around there sets with chains hanging out. so now he is known as leeroy the wannabe black gansta cRappa.

and who thought up the nickname..

    yep it was black rob

No offense was taken, I have thicker skin than that

And seeing as I don't wear jewellery anyway ( apart from my wedding and eternity rings ) then I have nothing to answer.

I'm not sure the issue is wearing a gold chain on the outside, but maybe the size and number of gold chains. I do not wear mine on the outside but obviously with some tops its shows. I see nothing tacky about my chain , its a fine gold antique one , not a big thick flat one. I dont wear it because it shows look how much i spent on it , i wear it because it was a gift. I think you have to look at the context in which the chain is worn, obviously for some people it is a status symbol, but i do also believe they can be worn with taste !

wearing it because it shows eg: shirt unbuttoned peeping out is fine (for my view) however I'm talking about say a polo neck where someone has to activly take it out and place it over dangling out the front.
