Winter FTW. Summers are getting worse for me: hotter (can't sleep at nights), longer and there are more biting insects around (I live in the stick so we get horseflies). Roll on dark evenings, frosty mornings and snow.

Sadly, what we tend to get it is dull, mild and windy winters... bah.. I should live in Scandinavia..

Hmm.. I must say I don't actually know how I'd respond to being in total darkness for some days.. I think I'd probably like it (long story) but I don't know.. I've got friends in Finland and Sweden (the latter lives inside the Arctic Circle and gets midnight sun and all) so I suppose I should give it a go at some point! My friends tell me Scandinavian summers tend to be hotter than the UK's.. Thank God for air con.

We get the housefly-sized ones (haematopota pluvialis) which hunt by sight and are really aggressive/tenacious. They're about the only things I kill with impunity but if there's one within 20 miles it'll usually find me. If I could hibernate from June to September I would!!

don't know that i've ever seen a horsefly - bugger, i'm moving out to the sticks so hopefully they won't bother us too much given that there's plenty of livestock to annoy!

i take it everyone is supporting NZ this afternoon then?

    Yeah right

Glad Glos won yesterday vs Saracens - good game, watched it.

Wales vs Aus was a bit flat - shame it was a draw. I suspect Wales will soon be a true force to recon with.

England - NZ - I don't think it will be a white wash - I suspect it will be close, whoever wins.
