It's funny how we baulk at "real life" but can happily blow away people in a game....the psyche is the same, the violence levels are not.

To the intellectually able it's a game, I agree, but sadly just like America the amount of intellectually able people appears to be diminishing daily. My point was that GTA mirrors real world events in many American cities but is hammed up for the game, and glorifies many of the so called "bad" things that people find offensive when posted on the Internet.......kids fed a diet of that crap without parental, control and poor education and employment levels, find their own role models!!

That's what you do Stewart, and the great difference will be that you do it with a group of mates, so it becomes a "sociable" event and when someone takes it seriously you all take the p and normal life is resumed.........some people do the same thing alone for hours a day, high or drunk, and will have no parental\peer pressure to comform to the norm.....that then becomes their norm.

Look at the blight of American teenagers who, with easy access to firearms, happily blow away their classmates for an supposed affront. The fine line is that with reinforcement of such games, those susceptible either cannot, or fail, to understand the difference.


Perhaps if you rread the whole thread fully (when your birthday cheer is over) you will see that I am an advocate of the showing of real life events as opposed to the glorification of violence in games simply because people have nothing better to do!!


Now if you'll excuse me I have to go, only my neighbour and his kids are playing loudly next door.....and I hate noise.....I'm just off to scoop out their hearts with a rusty spoon!!
