A friend from germany has been sent him from school due to the dangerous stormy conditions, my sister in Sheffield is saying the same as you lot, roofs blown off etc...and up here in Middlesbrough it's hardly even windy, slightly grey sky (was blue sky and sun an hour ago) and kinda warm! I thought we were supposed to get worse weather up North?!
my next door neighbours garden wall has blown over on to my driveway!
I spent this morning watching rain from the gutter on the packing sheds outside my window going upwards.
And this afternoon, the ceiling in the boardroom has been moving up and down, and one of our mushroom tunnels has been mostly destroyed by the wind, and there's now half of the tunnels insulation layer in the various gardens around us, with the black cover flapping wildly off the frame. In fact we've had people go out when it calmed down a bit to pull the insulation layer out of the other half as it was starting to look like that was about to go as well.
We've had trees down all over the place before I even headed out to work (so pre 8am).
Just a bit breezy then, and people have been gleefully telling me it's due to snow as well. I'll be happy with that if it snows on sunday night and keeps me from getting to work on monday-wednesday next week
i am now at home. awesome! the coastguards are screaming about and lots of roads are closed

No flying today, so got sent home from work after 4 hours! Lincolnshire is generally a mess as it's soo flat. Fallen trees and overturned lorries everywhere. Seemed to take the county radio station about 5-10 minutes to list the road closures. Wasn't that fun driving in either, with a couple of close calls with lorries.
Albrighton, eh? Used to go to a great curry house there (Balti Bazaar I think) when I was at Cosford.
Really windy here, has just got worse and worse over the past few days. I live in a grade 2 listed building and I may as well have clingfilm for windows. Going to be a fun night tonight.
Looks like most bridges in the country are closed. The QE2 bridge has been shut all day I think. Not nice.
i really want the weather to do its worst. im getting drunk and really dont want to go in to work tomorrow now

Apparently they've closed the local Asda while the winds up.... as they're worried the big sign may topple over...
Leeds train station is apparently closed as are buses allegedly
I'll kiss it better at the meet then.
anyway.... wind....
I've been enjoying watching all the birds flying backwards past my window... and the spray from the Thames being whipped up when a boat goes past. Makes some interesting (and mesmerising at 4pm) patterns on t'river.
