    Glasgow Meet - 31st March 2007

    All,

I'm planning a Glasgow meet for the weekend of the 31st March.

I'll need your help on planning some things to do.

    We'll follow the normal formula:

11am Meet in Pub for lunching and chatting and getting to know people. Weatherspoons type.

3pm Wander off for an activity of some sort.

Evening - Dinner and going out, sampling the nightlife!

    Who's in?

Glaswegians - please post your suggestions for the location of above activites here... we'll see what we come up with.

(I'm flying up Easyjet and probably staying in Eurohostel - as soon as some people are confirmed I'll book it all!)

    Thanks all!

    Tigs
    Social Sec.

woot woot i've been waiting for this one
counting house for 11 and for lunch, its a weatherspoons pub! and its huge. and you dont get ID'd like in brum

then its up to you guys what you fancy doing later on in the afternoon, theres X-scape for bowling and/or snowboarding. cinema for surprise surprise cinema stuff, or lots of shops for some shopping (in moderation this time)

possibilities for dinner... you're usual stuff like pizza hut etc.
kubla khan - mongol restaurant where you make your own dishes (including the sauce) and watch them cook it. Good selection of meats including sprinbok, zebra, kangaroo, ostrich, wild boar and shark.
Roastit' Bubbly Jocks - Trad. scottish, very busy so booking in advance is necessary, but if u fancy some scottish meals like haggis, mince and tatties or venison then this is the place.
Pizza - I work in a pizza joint so get cheap pizzas (Papa Johns if you've heard of it) We were thinking of opening a smoothie bar a while back, but someone got in first, and we couldn't really be arsed
If some weegie can provide a crash-pad for the tea, we could stop off and get some drink, and eat pizza.

After dinner, its off to the pub and club. Lots to choose from from Cheesy, dance, RnB (crap imo) and indy.

Just some food for thought, im sure other weegies have some suggestions

I'd love to go to this one but unfortunately I've already got something scheduled for this weekend which I cannot get out of or I shall be castrated and then physically abused for a while.

Ahh well - at least I'll be at the Milton Keynes one in 2 weeks time

plenty of weatherspoons pubs here for the lunch bit, we have

The Counting House (very central, very busy)

Yates (couple of these, wouldnt be my first choice tho)

Bar Bhudda (should be ok, can cater for the numbers and has a separate area from the bar, but still with access)

Blue Nile ( its not called this anymore, but its a decent boozer, started my last WoW meeting here)

    -----alternative----
its not in city centre, but in partick, theres a snooker club that has been revamped and is now called PJChamps, yep terrible name, has several pool tables, is quiet during the day unless theres major football on (need to check) and i used to work there. We could then gravitate to Ashton lane or so, before hitting the town for a bit of nightlife, but tbh, im easy any which way

Counting House is a good, central meeting point with decent cheap beer.
We've got good restaurants of virtually every kind (& price level) in the city - what's everyone prefer - Chinese, Indian, Italian, Thai etc.?

being an old fogey I'll probably pass on the clubbing though.

although x-scape is a pretty cool idea, it's a bit far out of town isn't it? Although a trip along the Clyde on the boat could be fun

I'll let you know closer to the time if i can make it or not. As usual things are a bit chaotic at work at the moment. Doesn't help when I'm looking for a new job either.

As I missed the brum one (despite living there) I'm gonna try double hard to make this one - I may have a word with my friend who does the Big gay bear Iron liver tour.... they're all from around there - I'm sure they can give me some ideas!

yes you do! It's the only wetherspoons/pub i've ever been ID'd in!

then its up to you guys what you fancy doing later on in the afternoon, theres X-scape for bowling and/or snowboarding. cinema for surprise surprise cinema stuff, or lots of shops for some shopping (in moderation this time)
x-scape is too expensive, and a pain to get to (well not for me, but from the town it is)

possibilities for dinner... you're usual stuff like pizza hut etc.
kubla khan - mongol restaurant where you make your own dishes (including the sauce) and watch them cook it. Good selection of meats including sprinbok, zebra, kangaroo, ostrich, wild boar and shark.

A good Weatherspoons type place, hmmm Lloyds on West George St ? Seems to get a slightly better class of punter (and totty ) than some of the other places mentioned.

The West end is always good for a night out. Plenty of relaxed bars (Ashton lane etc.) and eateries (Indian, Italian, fast food chains, Chippys etc.)

Oh, and if you're not familiar with Glasgow, be afraid of the house of Cats !

Don't worry, I'm not gatecrashing or anything, just trying to come up with helpful suggestions

Hmmm, I reckon I could travel down for this! Cousin has a flat on Sauchiehall Street, which is always a bonus!

I've been to a gig in Cathouse before...doesn't really look like the biggest place to go for a night out...
