    Birds in a Van

So, a van, loaded up with caged birds is travelling along the road and something scares the birds and they all fly around their cages for a few seconds....

Does the van get any lighter while the birds are flying around in the cages?

    Oh My God Clunk

Edit: No, because of equal and opposite reactions the force exerted by the birds needed to fly would be pushing down on the van

So, is that to do with air pressure then? If so, what if a window was open? Maybe it was the window opening that made the birds flap about?

they can fly around as much as they want its NOT going to take off

but yes it will get lighter by the wieght of a few birds BUT compared to the added wieght of the cages you are not gaining anything.

what if it was on a treadmill tho silendeath?

i still think no. when a harrier/helecopter takes off vertically **** gets blown around like mad, probably with the same force thats making the aircraft take off but over a bigger area..

However if the birds did a little jump and waited a m/s or two when it got to its highest point before starting to flap then the van would be lighter for those split-seconds..

Then decide to throw a tennis ball in the air...
As the ball is in mid air the bus driver slams the breaks on
does the ball continue to travel at 30MPH and smash into the windscreen or does it stop....??

It continues @ 30mph which is why it's a really bad idea to leave stuff on your parcel shelf in case you crash....

Yup, they don't like that. My bird says it messes up her hair.

Why are you putting birds in cages anyway ? I know some have a fetish for that kinda thing but...

What with this and the thread yesterday about how a woman should treat her husband I'm getting worried about Hexites attitudes towards women.

or because of carbon atoms fusing to the birds during burning do they infact get heavier? especially if the smoke is kept inside the van?

These are special mutant birds that are immune to smoke and gas, similar to what bernard mathews had, alledgedly.
